Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with pain medication and fever reducing properties. Its
approved indications are the treatment of acute pain, the symptomatic treatment of Osteoarthritis and primary
dysmenorhoea in adolescents and adults above 12 years old. Nimesulide was first launched in Italy as Aulin and Mesulid in
1985. Nimesulide is absorbed rapidly following oral administration. It undergoes extensive biotransformation, mainly to 4-
hydroxynimesulide. Nimesulide as a relatively rapid onset of action, with meaningful reductions in pain and inflammation
observed within 15 min from drug intake. It should be avoided by children under 12 and people with liver problems or flulike symptoms because it can cause high risk of liver toxicity. It is a new, selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor with few
